Plexus, Kelso
The client’s brief for their new flagship high-tech electronics factory required the building to be modern, embracing energy efficiency and sustainable construction, with low-maintenance external materials. The design quality was to trumpet the company’s commitment to high standards of manufacturing and customer-focused service.
The factory provides 35,000 sq ft of open-plan production area within a curved steel trussed structure, with an additional 20,000 sq ft of administrative and ancillary accommodation in two masonry-clad pavilions, including a staff restaurant which has been created between these pavilions. The restaurant has a fully glazed curtain wall looking out through an exposed truss expressing the structural nature of the building.
Project value £3.1m.
