Deeview Court, Aberdeen

A 22-bed specialist healthcare/residential unit for patients suffering from Huntington’s disease and neurological disorders, including 2 respite units, therapeutic support facilities, visitor accommodation, commercial kitchen, laundry, offices and staff rooms, for Sue Ryder Care.

The design objective was to create an open, caring and de-institutionalised environment, allowing for dignity and independence while providing a high level of care support, based on a hierarchy of private and interactive spaces. Houses are linked by an internal glazed street, with a central focal meeting space and café, from which is accessed all support and communal accommodation. Energy efficient and sustainable construction, incorporating active and passive solar energy features.
