The Old Sawmill, Earlston

A development of 24 detached houses ranging from 3 to 5 bedrooms in compact 2-storey designs, on reclaimed land previously occupied for many years by a sawmill adjacent to the former railway line.

Partial timber cladding in factory-coated high-performance Accoya alternating in 3 colours, to reflect traditional colour features in the town's high street, and also to reflect the client's long-standing company involvement in the timber industry.

The development involved diversion and opening up of a culverted burn running through the site to form an open watercourse as required by SEPA, and consequently the construction of a new road bridge over the diverted burn.
