Walkerburn Community Facility

Walkerburn Parish Church, a B-listed church built in 1875 and considered a good example of its type, became redundant due to unsustainable running and repair costs which led to amalgamation of the congregation with nearby Innerleithen Parish Church.

Walkerburn Community Development Trust saw the opportunity to retain the building for community use, and Camerons carried out a costed feasibility study for conversion to provide a community meeting and activity facility, with associated cycle workshop and holiday bunkhouse accommodation.

Discussions with the Planning authority and with Historic Scotland identified areas where key architectural features could be retained as part of the case for sensitive conversion and fabric repair. Projected value £1.6m.
